GEOBOX Project

Due: Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Project Guidelines
1. You will randomly pick one of the geographic regions of North America.
2. Use your textbook, encyclopedia, library books, the Internet, etc., to research FOUR items that are associated with your chosen geographic region. Examples may include, but are not limited to: animals, fish, crops, wildlife, sea life, lakes, snowflakes, sand, wheat, tractors, cows, etc. The interior of your box must be decorated to depict the landforms of your chosen region, (jagged mountains, rolling plains, coastal areas, grasslands, glaciers, etc.) This interior is separate from the items in the box.
3. Gather your stuff. All project items must be 3-D. No 2 dimensional items will be accepted. Keep in mind that all your items must fit into a box. Choose a box relative to the space you need to display your items. If you are in doubt, ask the teacher. It is better to clarify before wasting time & expenses to create a GeoBox that does not meet grade specifications.
4. Obtain a box. You may create a box of your own or use a prefabricated box. THE LID MUST CLOSE ON THE BOX with all items secured inside! The box must fit through the classroom door.
5. Place the name and a map of your region on the top of the GEOBOX. (Must not be a simple paper print!!!) Suggestions; paint, beads, cloth, etc. REMEMBER: everything must be 3-D.
6. Be creative!!! There are literally millions of items you can use to create a great project inside and out of the GEOBOX. Neatness is important, so artistically express youreslef, AS WELL AS work to maintain a visually pleasing presentation. Sloppiness will cost you points!!
